BREAKING: ‘Bising’ intensifies into typhoon; no signal warnings raised yet

MANILA, Philippines — Severe Tropical Storm Bising has intensified into a typhoon as it entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). But the state weather bureau has not raised any signal warnings for now since the typhoon is yet to directly cause any severe weather disturbance on any part of the country.

In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Bising was located 960 kilometers east of Surigao City in Surigao del Norte, packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.

It is moving westward at 15 kph, according to Pagasa.
