MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit waters 253 kilometers southeast of Davao Occidental’s Sarangani province on Thursday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Despite the strong tectonic movement which was located just 26 kilometers below the ground, Phivolcs has not issued any tsunami warning as of now.
However, state seismologists said that aftershocks are still possible.
Earlier, Phivolcs also noted that there is no tsunami warning raised despite the magnitude 6.6. earthquake that struck the Kermadec Islands Region that sits northeast of New Zealand.
