Bayan Muna warns Brgy UP Campus execs on PNP immersion request

MANILA, Philippines — Bayan Muna Representative Carlos Zarate warned Zenaida Lectura, chairperson of Barangay (village) U.P. Campus, to be wary and carefully study the Philippine National Police’s request to hold a 10-day immersion in the community.
Zarate, who’s also a House Deputy Minority Leader, said that these immersions could be the PNP’s way of gathering information that will lead to raids similar to the Bloody Sunday incident.
The Bloody Sunday incident led to the deaths of activist leaders Emmanuel Asuncion, Chai Lemita-Evangelista, Ariel Evangelista, Greg Dasilao, Mark Ceros Bacasno, Abner Esto, Edward Esto, Purooy Dela Cruz, and Pulong Dela Cruz.
