Pagasa warns of isolated rains due to thunderstorm activity

MANILA, Philippines — Isolated rains would still occur despite warmer temperatures brought by the easterlies, as thunderstorm activity is still highly likely, according to state meteorologists.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its Friday weather update that the whole country remains affected by the easterlies, or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

However, these easterlies also contribute to the formation of cloud bands that bring short, isolated rain showers in various parts of the country, like what was experienced in some areas within Metro Manila earlier.
