MANILA, Philippines — Senator Francis Pangilinan on Monday lamented that the “rule of law is under siege” amid the spate of killings in the country.

“This has been happening regularly. Almost daily killings left and right. Whether it’s involving policemen in a shootout or lawyers lawyering for suspected communists or farmers, groups, human rights organizations,” Pangilinan said in an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel.

“The rule of law is under siege and this is a challenge,” he added.

There have been over 50 lawyers killed since the start of the Duterte administration, Pangilinan noted.
