MANILA, Philippines — Despite the presence of COVID-19 variants from the United Kingdom and South Africa, and two other “mutations of concern,” the possibility of implementing a stricter community quarantine in Metro Manila was not discussed during the meeting of government agencies with mayors of the metropolis, the Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an online press briefing that the DOH and the mayors have agreed to continue implementing a localized response to the increase of COVID-19 cases in the region.
