MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has adopted a resolution lauding the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for its efficient tax collection as it surpassed 15 percent of its target for 2020 despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
House members on Wednesday adopted House Resolution No. 1538 filed by Majority Leader Martin Romualdez and Pampanga Rep. Mikey Arroyo. That resolution commended BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay and the government’s economic team for their “dedicated hard work to help the economy recover from Covid-19.”
According to Romualdez and Arroyo, the BIR collected P1.94 trillion in 2020, exceeding its goal of P1.69 trillion or an excess of 15 percent or P255.18 …
