TACLOBAN CITY — An alleged leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) and three other members surrendered to authorities in Eastern Visayas on Saturday.

“Ka Joseph,” the finance and medical officer of the “Banog” platoon, and his two companions yielded high-powered firearms to Police Regional Director Ronaldo De Jesus at the Camp Ruperto Kangleon, the regional Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters.

Another rebel identified as “Tomas” also surrendered to the 63rd Infantry Battalion and the Naval Intelligence Security Group on the same day.

He turned over an M-16 Colt rifle; baby armalite, and some medical paraphernalia.
