CEBU CITY—A mining pit in the Carmen Copper Corp. compound in Toledo City has caved in on Monday (Dec. 21).
A local radio station, dyLA, reported that at least six persons went missing.
Toledo’s public information office said a rescue operation is ongoing.
In a phone interview, John Roseller Layan, Toledo information officer, said Mayor Marjorie Perales has called for an emergency meeting with city officials.
Layan said more information will be given after the meeting.
The mining company has yet to issue a statement.
