MANILA, Philippines — ThePhilippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it does not expect a tsunami to ensue from the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that shook the Soccsksargen region on Wednesday morning.
“Iyong intensity, iyong lakas na pagnginig na naramdaman, ay Intensity V sa General Santos. At least naman po hindi naman mag-ko-cause ng tsunami at saka kung ganoon lang na Intensity V, ang pinakamataas, walang ineexpect na damage,” said Phivolcs chief Renato Solidum over ABS-CBN Teleradyo, explaining the details of the 6.1 magnitude quake.
