SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—At least nine employees of the Department of Education (DepEd) office in Zambales province have tested positive for SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, after attending a meeting last week, officials said on Wednesday (March 17).
In a text message, Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, confirmed that among the virus-infected DepEd employees were school division officials and a principal.
The infections surfaced when 300 DepEd employees in the province were tested for the virus after attending a management committee meeting in the town of Iba last March 12.
One of those present at the meeting was the source of the infections, Bueno said.
