87% of Filipinos want gov’t priority on public transport, bikes over private vehicles

MANILA, Philippines — Eighty-seven percent of Filipinos preferred that bicycles and public transportation be prioritized over private vehicles, according to a survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) released on Friday.

In a November 2020 poll, SWS also found that six percent of Filipinos disagree while seven percent were undecided on prioritization of public transport, bicycles and pedestrians over private vehicles, in thebackdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, with workers perennially faced with the challenge of finding means of transportation to get to their places of work without breaching the minimum health protocols set by the government.
