MANILA, Philippines —Torrential rains brought by typhoon “Vicky” have resulted in a landslide in a mine site in Toledo City, Cebu on Monday, resulting in the death of three mineworkers while seven were reported missing.

Carmen Copper Corporation (CCC), an operating mine of listed Atlas Consolidated Mining Development Corp., confirmed in a statement that a landslide occurred in its pit.

The Carmen site covers 1,674 hectares.

“The incident was traceable to the incessant rains for the past several months and aggravated by Typhoon Vicky which hit parts of the Visayas, including Toledo City last Friday, Dec. 18, 2020,” the statement said.
