MANILA, Philippines — Some 1,800 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are stranded in the United Arab Emirates are set to be repatriated beginning this July, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Wednesday.

DOLE spokesperson Rolly Francia said that the repatriation efforts of the OFWs will begin on July 10, through Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

“Nasa 1,800 po ang ating OFWs na stranded diyan, hindi makalabas, di makauwi sa atin dahil sa mga restriction,” said Francia in an online briefing.

(There are around 1,800 OFWs stranded in that country because of restrictions.)
