THE SENATE on Monday approved two resolutions concurring in the ratification of two international agreements, one on the Philippines’ hosting of the Loss and Damage Fund and the other on the country’s accession to the Search and Rescue Convention.
With 17 affirmative votes, the chamber agreed to ratify Senate Resolution No. 642, or the Loss and Damage Fund Board Agreement, granting the international Board of Loss and Damage Fund (LDF) juridical personality within the Philippines.
The resolution also empowers the Philippines as host country for the LDF, a role it has held since 2024.
Senate Resolution No. 643, or the Accession to the International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue, was also approved with 17 affirmative votes. The resolution enhances the country’s capabilities and facilities for search and rescue operations by acceding to the International Convention on Maritime.
