THE Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will be crafting a master plan to modernize regional ports and upgrade cargo operations.

In a request for expression of interest, the port regulator said it is seeking consultancy services to conduct a feasibility study and craft the master plan, worth P41.91 million.

PPA said interested parties can submit bids on or before Oct. 13, noting that the contract shall be completed within one year from the receipt of the notice to proceed.

The feasibility study and development of the master plan covers 10 ports, comprising Luneta Ferry Terminal and Manila International Cruise Terminal in Manila; Anilao and Mainaga ports in Mabini, Batangas; Mulanay port in Quezon; San Vicente in Palawan; Codon in Catanduanes; Pulupandan in Negros Occidental; Poblacion in Zamboanga Sibugay and Sultan Naga Dimaporo in Lanao del Norte.

The PPA has said earlier that it is developing a master plan for select ports to find ways to improve cargo movement and meet the increasing port services required for agro-industrial development. — Ashley Erika O. Jose
