FAKE products worth P100 million were seized on May 25 in a warehouse complex in Pasay City, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) reported on Thursday.
An inventory of the warehouse contents showed various counterfeit and copyright infringing goods, including brands such as Gucci, Havaianas, Marvel, Nike, and Adidas, among others.
The goods were seized through the BoC’s Port of Manila, which was part of the inspection team along with the Formal Entry Division, Legal Service, and the Philippine Coast Guard.
Owners of the warehouses have been directed to provide importation documents and other pertinent permits, BoC said.
Further investigation is also underway for other possible violations of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
The BoC seized P3.89 billion worth of smuggled goods in the first quarter of the year, out of their full-quarter collection of P188.51 billion. — Tobias Jared Tomas
