A DREAM come true” — this was the general reaction of Malabonians when the Malabonian Sports Complex was recently opened in Barangay Hulong Duhat. The new sports complex houses the first and only track-and-field oval in the city, plus a futsal pitch, basketball court, lawn tennis court, and children’s playground.

Leading the blessing and inauguration was Malabon Mayor Lenlen Oreta together with Vice-Mayor Ninong dela Cruz, Congresswoman Jaye Lacson-Noel, Councilor Enzo Oreta, together with other Councilors, Barangay Officials, and Department Heads from the Malabon LGU.

“I’m very delighted to open this sports complex because this is a place where each and every Malabonian can exercise, enjoy the open space, and at the same time, bond with their families in a safe and secured environment,” said Mr. Oreta. “This is more special as Malabon, for so many years, has been dreaming of having its own track and field oval. This is especially useful for the training of our city and student athletes, and at the same time, will be a venue for sports competitions and other related events.”

As the world is still in a pandemic, the open space of the Malabonian Sports Complex will allow each individual to exercise in an open-air environment. The presence of a children’s playground will also invite the kids who can bond together with their parents.

“I commend the stakeholders who worked hard to ensure the success of the construction and launch of this facility. It showed that if we work together for a common purpose, we can achieve all our goals,” added the mayor.

The opening of the sports complex is a bright spot at the end of a year and something that everyone can look forward to in the coming year.
