CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck offshore northeast of Isabela early Wednesday morning, with its epicenter located about 39 kilometers north-northeast of Maconacon town, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 4:45 a.m. at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was plotted at 17.73° north latitude and 122.34° east longitude, in waters off the northeastern coast of Isabela.
The tremor was recorded in parts of northern Luzon, with Peñablanca, Cagayan registering Instrumental Intensity III. Ilagan, Isabela and Tabuk, Kalinga recorded Instrumental Intensity I.
No immediate damage or casualties were reported following the quake. Phivolcs also issued no tsunami warning in connection with the earthquake. — Artemio A. Dumlao
