MY EG Philippines Chief Executive Officer Ann Saldan (seated) and Rodriguez Senior Administrative Officer Victorino Alejandro sign the Memorandum of agreement for the use of the contact-tracing app in the whole municipality.

For the past few months, the government has been dealing with challenges in implementing an efficient way to do contact tracing for citizens, who have been in close contact with a Covid-19 positive.

Establishments ask their customers to provide their contact details through forms, which may not be very accurate.

MYEG Philippines Inc., a market leader in electronic solutions championing government services online automation, has been providing eGovernment services in both Malaysia and the Philippines for the last 18 years through its technology platform encompassing internet, automation, bigdata and electronic payments.

Its latest developments, MYQR, is a simple, seamless, and free contact tracing solution mobile application designed to monitor and track individuals entering establishment and business premises.

What makes it different from other contact tracing apps is that it does not need Bluetooth or GPS to function. A user does not also need to have a smartphone as the QR code can be printed on a piece of paper, making it user-friendly even for the elderly.

Local government units have started using digital platforms for contact tracing. Hernani in Eastern Samar, through the leadership of Mayor Amado Candido, is the first local government to implement MYQR.

Another LGU is the Municipality of Rodriguez, Rizal. They officially signed the memorandum to facilitate and activate the implementation of MYQR for the town.
