COTABATO CITY: Five municipalities in the Bangsamoro region each received a P25-million financing and capacity-building fund from the Bangsamoro Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG).

Together with five mayors, MILG Minister Naguib Sinarimbo signed on Saturday memoranda of agreements for the implementation of the two-story municipal government centers.

The municipalities of Sultan Dumalondong, Butig, Poona Bayabao and Lumbaca Unayan of Lanao del Sur, along with Pandag of Maguindanao province, were among the identified towns with no permanent and dedicated municipal halls for the longest time, according to Sinarimbo.

The project is part of MILG’s comprehensive intervention and support to the local governments through its Local Government Facilities Development Program and the Support to Local Government Unit Infrastructure Development Project.

“We [the Bangsamoro government] are committed to completing the construction of government centers to ensure that our constituents are able to approach their local elected officials in designated buildings and where services may be accessed by the people,” Sinarimbo said.

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Executive Secretary Abdulraof Macacua was also present to witness the ceremonial signing.

Macacua said the budget is intended to aid local government units in instituting reforms in governance.

The project is in line with the 12-point priority agenda of Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, including the vision, goals and strategies for governance reforms anchored on moral governance.
