5.4 quake jolts Occidental Mindoro; intensities reported in over a dozen areas – BusinessWorld Online
A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, on Friday, with shaking felt in more than a dozen areas, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The tremor occurred at 10:38 a.m., with its epicenter located about 13 kilometers southwest of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, PHIVOLCS said in Earthquake Information No. 2.
PHIVOLCS said the earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 14 kilometers.
No damage is expected from the earthquake, but aftershocks are expected, the agency said.
PHIVOLCS reported Intensity V shaking in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, and the Oriental Mindoro localities of Calapan City, Naujan, Puerto Galera, San Teodoro, and Victoria.
Intensity IV was recorded in Taal, Batangas, and the Occidental Mindoro towns of Abra de Ilog and Sablayan.
Intensity III was reported in Quezon City, Batangas City, the Cavite city of General Trias, and San Pedro City, Laguna.
Intensity II was recorded in Parañaque City, Santa Cruz, Laguna, and Guinayangan, Quezon.
