Three weather systems to bring rains during All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day — PAGASA

Three weather systems are expected to bring rains across the country before and during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday.

In a special weather outlook for the upcoming holidays signed by PAGASA Weather Division Chief Juanito S. Galang, the agency said rainy conditions are expected across large parts of the country from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.

The agency attributed the expected rainfall to three weather systems: the northeast monsoon, shear line and Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

On Friday and Saturday, all three weather systems are expected to bring rainfall across large parts of the country, particularly in Luzon.

The three weather systems are also expected to affect the country on Sunday, which marks the observance of All Saints’ Day.

The shear line, a zone where cold and warm air converge, is expected to bring rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Aurora and Quezon.

The northeast monsoon is expected to bring rains over the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, while the ITCZ is expected to bring rains over Palawan, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi.

Meanwhile, on Monday, during the observance of All Souls’ Day, the northeast monsoon is expected to bring rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna and Rizal.

The rest of the country is expected to experience localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA earlier warned that flooding and landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall in areas affected by these weather systems. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
