As he claimed the Zozo Championship with three strokes on Monday, Tiger Woods matched Sam Snead’s record of 82 PGA Tour victories.
It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for Woods, but eventually, his closing three-under-par 67 was enough to fend off a challenge from Hideki Matsuyama at the Narashino Country Club in Japan’s first PGA Tour event.
Woods, who had to play seven holes in the weather-affected event on Monday, finished in his first tournament at 19-under 261 since two months ago undergoing arthroscopic left knee surgery.
Snead was 52 when he recorded his final tour win in 1965 in Greensboro, North Carolina-nine years older than Woods ‘ present age.
