Philippine carriers have scored their best on-time performance (OTP) numbers so far this year in September, Air Carriers of the Philippines (ACAP) said Wednesday.
In an emailed statement, ACAP stated that its member carriers reported an average 83% OTP rate for flights at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in September, 7 percentage points higher than in July and August.
ACAP, for its part, attributed the improved performance to the completion of Runway 31.
The use of Runway 31 for take-off has led to quicker aircraft movements, decreased aircraft taxi times resulting in less ramp congestion.
They have also seen a decrease in departure time delays due to better air traffic control and the full use of the new air traffic and navigation system.
