Quezon City’s Tandang Sora interchange and flyover closed Saturday night to make way to the construction of the MRT-7.
Authorities sealed off the area with barriers while signs were placed up over adjacent lanes informing motorists of the closure while providing 2 nearby U-turn slots. MMDA also has flashing stoplights permitting enforcers to manually direct traffic.
Around an estimate of 100,000 motorists will be affected by the closure.
The flyover is scheduled to be demolished to make way to the rails and a station of the MRT-7, which will provide a linkage between Quezon City and San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.
The 14-station rail line crossing 22 kilometers is part of the government’s P8-trillion infrastructure program.
