Saudi attaché, 3 others nabbed for extortion in Makati

Authorities seized an attaché of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia and his 3 Filipino companions in Makati City on Wednesday night, March 13, for supposedly extorting money from a Yemeni student.

Around 6 pm, the named were detained by the Makati police in an entrapment operation at the Cebuana Lhuillier branch on Makati Avenue in Barangay Poblacion: Fahad Almusabih, a Sudanist, Miller Apao of Bacoor, Cavite, Jonathan Abenasa of Putatan, Muntinlupa City and Hernan Gonzales of Parañaque City.

Ahmed Mohammed Muneer Mohammed, a college student from Baguio City, wanted the help of the police, told them he paid Almusabih P9,000 for a swift renewal of his student visa on March 4.

The suspect allegedly told the student that he would obtain his new visa the same day, but instead Almusabih withdrawn his passport and necessitated an additional P16,000.

When Mohammed refused to bring more money, Almusabih purportedly threatened him with deportation.

Later on, Almusabih demanded P100,000 from the victom on March 8, for his passport to be released, instigating the latter to report the incident to the Makati police. The suspects are imprisoned at the Makati police HQ.
