Samar lawmaker convicted of graft for P16.1-million emergency supplies anomaly

The Sandiganbayan 4th Division sentenced Samar 2nd District Rep. Milagrosa Tan into incarceration for eight counts of graft. Tan was found guilty of graft for the anomalous purchase of P16.1 million in emergency supplies without public bidding when she was governor in 2001. Tan’s sentence is pending as of report.

The court also found her co-accused Rolando Montejo and Reynaldo Yabut guilty beyond reasonable doubt in all the cases. Meanwhile, the acquitted were her four people who was accused at the same time with her.

Tan, Montejo, and Yabut each paid P240,000 in addition to their P240,000 cash bond, for their continued provisional liberty as they plea the court’s ruling.

Tan who sought a return to the Samar capitol in the 2019 elections, was also sentenced to perpetual disqualification from holding public office while the full ruling of her verdict has yet to be released.
