PetroGazz made official its Final Four appearance after eradicating BaliPure, 25-19, 25-22, 25-18, yesterday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the Imus City Sports Complex in Cavite.
A seventh straight win for the Angels, who leaned on the prolific scoring of American Janisa Johnson and Cuban Wilma Salas to preserve their unbeaten record and solidify their hold of the top spot.
PetroGazz met resistance from BaliPure in the second frame after it trailed 14-9 behind Water Defender imports Danijela Dzakovic and Alexandra Vajdova.
However, the Angels recuperated their composure to grab the 20-17 lead before wrapping up the set courtesy of a down-the-line spiker from Johnson.
The win also serves as a morale-booster for PetroGazz’s anticipated matchup against Creamline next week.
BaliPure skidded to its sixth straight defeat to remain at the cellar.
The other game sees Channon Thompson and Krystle Esdelle exploded for combined 51 points as Motolite survived Pacifictown Army, 25-23, 21-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-13.
Thompson and Esdelle highlighted their performances with 23 and 19 kills for the Motolite Spikers, who clinched their second win in six games to breathe life in their semifinal bid.
Pacifictown Army fell to 3-3 despite Olena Lymareva-Flink scoring 25 points.
