Malacañang assured the public that President Rodrigo Duterte health was good adding that the Chief Executive undergoes regular COVID-19 testing while remaining in “perpetual isolation.”
He undergoes routine PCR [polymerase chain reaction] studies. He complains about the pain of the swab tests and they think it’s also a requirement of Davao City Mayor Sara whenever he goes back to Davao to meet the requirements of the local government.
In a later comment, Roque clarified that “perpetual isolation” was just a figure of speech he used to “highlight the caution exercised by the Presidential Security Group (PSG) in safeguarding the physical well-being of the President in this demanding time of COVID-19. Roque’s assurance was issued after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año tested positive again for COVID-19.
The President ‘s previous meeting with Año and his other Cabinet members was held on August 10. Roque and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III confirmed that after interacting with Año, they are undergoing self-isolation.
Meanwhile, Roque also assured that the President’s health was “good” as he again dismissed reports that Duterte had left the country for medical treatment over the weekend. It was cleared in a statement yesterday that the President who was supposed to leave the country was false news. He’s still in Davao and he hasn’t left the Philippines and his health is fine.
Duterte is expected to consult with members of the COVID-19 Task Force directly on Monday to agree on the proposed quarantine classifications of Metro Manila and its surrounding provinces.
