PH takes part in G20 tourism meeting

The Department of Tourism (DOT) shared the experience of the Philippines in rehabilitating the world-famous resort island of Boracay and other efforts to protect the environment, invited for the first time to the G20 Tourism Ministers’ Meeting held in Japan last week.

Using this model as a guideline, the DOT has prioritized and rationalized the implementation of environmental and related laws in tourism destinations from north to the southern Philippines such as the Cordilleras, El Nido in Palawan, Bohol, and Siargao said Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, who led the Philippines contingent at the conference.

Puyat also met with the Japanese Minister of Land, Environment, Tourism and Transportation Kazuyoshi Akaba to discuss potential partnerships aimed at tourism promotion.
