PCG acquires fresh assets for maritime safety, options for disaster response


The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) purchased fresh disaster response assets aimed at enhancing the agency’s maritime safety, patrol and safety activities.

The newly acquired assets include 90 4×4 pick-up trailer hitch ball and mount units, 73 outboard motor rubber boats, 12 outboard motor Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIB) units, seven PCG bus units, and five outboard motor units.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade graced the newly procured assets ‘ turn-over and blessing ceremony.

Lorenzana said he thinks the PCG’s recent development will be a strong booster for all its strength.

For his part, PGC Commander Admiral Elson Hermogino said the disaster response assets would allow PCG staff to extend better and more reliable service to the public particularly during moments of calamities.

The PCG said the new assets will be distributed across the country to various PCG districts to fulfill the mandate of the agency in search, rescue and response operations.
