PBA Team Brgy. Ginebra, despite being removed from top-2 contention, still has a lot to fight for as the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup goes to the second last gameday of its elimination round.
Assured of a top-6 finish, the Gin Kings (6-3) now skirmish for position that will help determine their first-round rival in the All-Filipino playoffs.
Ginebra is at this time at third place and the Gin Kings do have the inside track at keeping the no. 3 seed. If rankings hold through next week, Ginebra lures Magnolia for a Manila Clasico quarterfinals.
In the meantime, standing in the way of Ginebra’s quest for the third spot is another fierce contender in the Meralco Bolts.
Meralco is holding on for dear life at 3-7 and while getting to four wins guarantee nothing, that at least gives them an actual chance to advance. Face off for Ginebra-Meralco will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum
In the first game at 4:30 p.m., Alaska (4-6) and Northport (3-6) figure in another critical game to help decide the lower seeds in the playoffs.
The Aces still in some way uphold 8th place while the Batang Pier have been revived and they look to climb up from 10th place.
