Marinerong Pilipino laid down Chadao-Far Eastern University, 87-63, in the PBA D-League at the Paco Arena in Manila which reportedly had Santi Santillan and Jed Mendoza steamrolled a third quarter breakaway.
The duo combined for 12 points in the third as Skippers recuperated control of the contest after the Tamaraws exposed by pulling within 44-40 on a dunk by Alec Stockton.
Santillan concluded with 19 points and nine rebounds while Mendoza added 16 points and nine rebounds to give Marinerong Pilipino its second straight win after losing to City of Valencia-San Sebastian in the opener last Feb. 14.
Laurenz Victoria and Anton Asistio also added 12 points individually for the Skippers of coach Yong Garcia.
Petron-Letran overcame another offensive explosion of Joshua Munzon to defeat AMA Online Education, 108-91, for its first victory in the tournament. Gaining 46 points, Munzon, at a loss to University of Santo Tomas, scored 38 but it was not sufficient for AMA to drop to 1-2.
