Filipina beauty queen and Miss Universe 2019 Catriona Gray advocates for education earned her a new-fangled title; she became the “Ambassador for Knowledge” for Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI). The announcement was made during Catriona’s recent appearance at television.
KCFI president and head of the education division of ABS-CBN Integrated Public Service, Rina Lopez Bautista, awarded Gray the citation for the latter’s “exceptional dedication in advocating for inclusive quality education in the service of Filipino children.” Signed by both Bautista and KCFI vice chairman and ABS-CBN chairman, Eugenio Lopez III.
Back in 2016, the beauty queen has been undertaking a teacher assistant task to students of a non-profit organization, Young Focus PH that supports the holistic development of disadvantaged children in the Smokey Mountains of Tondo, Manila.
Gray said during an interview in Magandang Buhay – a morning talk and variety show, “Working with Young Focus was the very reason why I joined the pageantry in the first place,”
An Official Letter of Conferment sent and read by Gray; KCFI optimizes that with her role as “Ambassador for Knowledge”, “will raise awareness of the global learning crisis affecting middle to low income countries, especially the Philippines, and in turn, encourage local and global collaborative solutions between government, businesses, and citizenry by inviting them to become stewards and co-creators of transformative learning.”
