The Philippines is assured of podium finishes in several boxing events as the country’s pugilists swept their opponents at Sunday’s 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the semifinal matches of various boxing events.
Irish Magno ended the day with a victory in the women’s flyweight division, 4-1, over Thailand’s Jitpong Jutamas. Meanwhile, Roger Ladon won over Singapore’s Hamid Mohamed Hanurdeen by unanimous decision in the men’s division.
Charly Suarez also defeated Vietnam’s Thanh Dat through the unanimous decision in the lightweight division. Riza Pasuit has prevailed over Hasanah Huswatun, 4-1 for the women’s classification.
With a victory over Thailand’s Phoemsap Atichai in the lightweight division of the men, James Palicte finished off the day, 4-1.
The final matches were scheduled for Monday.
