MANILA – Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday reiterated that she will not be pursuing a position in the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases, saying that she did not ask in the first place.
Robredo, On her weekly radio show, said that she does not need the post in order to help the public in this emerging health crisis.
The vice president was reacting to a series of calls suggesting that she could lead the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases, the country’s leading body on coronavirus response.
Leni Robredo said that they don’t need to be afraid since she didn’t apply for the post. She also claims that a lot of people might be afraid of her having the position.
Robredo echoed Ombudsman Samuel Martires and former special adviser Dr. Tony Leachon’s criticisms on the government’s failures to address its lapses on the coronavirus response.
She stresses the need for the government to have clear communications during this pandemic in order the curb the spread of the virus.
Previously, Robredo was appointed as an anti-illegal drugs committee co-chairperson, but the post was later taken from her.
