The huge Christmas tree in Quezon City‘s Araneta City (formerly Araneta Center) is one of the best-recognized reminders that the holidays are just around the corner.
The tree was illuminated on Friday night in ceremonies at the Times Square Food Park attracting spectators. The event was graced by Araneta matriarch Stella Araneta, actress Anne Curtis, and titleholders of Binibining Pilipinas.
The crowd, both young and old, marveled at the 100-foot Christmas tree decorated with 750 bits of 9-foot pine garlands; diamond ornaments, 250 cascading lights, sputnik and strobe lights, and more than 1,500 silver, gold, and teal Christmas balls.
The event served as a forum to renew the pledge of the Araneta Group to give back and help those in need. Together with the J., The Amado Araneta Foundation pledged support for out-of-school children to UNICEF’s Alternative Learning System (ALS).
