Flower fest parades promise color, talent

Weekend of spectacle and fervor of talent and color promises to amaze the crowd for the 24th edition of the Baguio Flower Festival.

Opening on Saturday’s street dancing competition, there will be 17 groups in elementary, high school and open category fighting it out for the top plum. The elementary school category: groups include from the Lucban Elementary School, Tuba Central School, Mabini Elementary School, Jose P. Laurel Elementary School, Baguio Central School, Dontongan Elementary School and the Manual L. Quezon Elementary School respectively.

Contending in the high school category are from Baguio City National High School, University of the Cordilleras and Saint Louis University Senior High, Remnant International College, Pinsao national High School and Pines City national High School. While in the Open category, four groups duke it out are from Saint Louis University College, Calasiao Pangasinan, Kibungan and Mana–it Group.

Special guest performers are led by the Tribu Ilongaon from Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation and the Ilocos Norte group. As non-competing floats to parade include the City Government of Baguio, The Department of Tourism with hall of fame contingents the Baguio Country Club, SM City Baguio and NLEX Corporation throughout the day.

Official admissions for the big floats are ABS-CBN, Camella Homes, Generika, GMA Network, International pharmaceuticals Incorporated, Jollibee Foods Corporation, Kiwanis International, MC Master Siomai Hut Incorporated, M. Lhuiller Financial Services Incorporated, RJ 7 Entertainment, Sitel Philippines Corporation, Valley Bread and Yippi / TCA Philippines amongst others.

While the small float category, participants include Coca Cola Beverages Philippines incorporated, Enchanted Kingdon Incoporated, Igorot Treasure, Lubao INterbational Balloon and Music Festival in Pradera Verde, Mega Global Corporation, MV Alabanza Longganisa, Palawan Pawnshop and Palawan Express Pera Padadala, Paymaya Philippines Incorporated, Pizza Hut, Shakeys Pizza Asia Ventures (Baguio Branch) and the Taloy Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative.Prizes for the competition will be awarded to the winners and runners-up towards the end of the ceremony.
