Far Eastern University has survived a late run from Adamson University to remain in the final four-race, 63-60, on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Despite FEU up 59-49 before the seven-minute mark of the final period, the Falcons made a 7-0 run on Lenda Douanga’s one-and-a-half pass. Ino Comboy drilled a triple at 3:09 to crack the freeze on the score for FEU, 62-56.
Jerom Lastimosa and Douanga made their own jumpers ahead of the two-minute mark in an attempt to steal the game, 62-60, but LJ Gonzales ‘ split from the line brought the Tamaraws to 63. Lastimosa had a good look for the final trio with 2.9 ticks left, but he was unable to connect, settle the victory for the Morayta-based squad.
At the end of the first half, the Tamaraws had the edge, 43-31.
Despite the victory, FEU head coach Olsen Racela said there was no reason to celebrate.
