On Thursday, the chief of the directorial staff of the Philippine National Police, Guillermo Eleazar, was promoted to the rank of police lieutenant general.
The rank ceremony was chaired at the Multi-Purpose Center in Camp Crame by PNP officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa.
PNP Deputy Chief of Police Operations Lieutenant General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan was also present.
Eleazar, who belongs to the 1987 Philippine Military Academy Class, was the former head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) where he became notorious for his surprise inspections at police stations to catch sleeping cops.
Eleazar served as chief of the Quezon City Police District before his stint at NCRPO.
Eleazar is one of those included in the Interior Secretary’s recommendation to President Rodrigo Duterte to join Gamboa and Cascolan as the next PNP chief.
