Eastern police, Pasay city top cops sacked after extortion incidents

Police chiefs of the Eastern Police District (EPD) as well as of Pasay City were both fired on Wednesday, March 6, after continuous extortion incidents connecting the entire EPD and Pasay police stations’ anti-drug units.

Metro Manila police chief Director Guillermo Eleazar reported thru mobile text messages that EPD director Chief Superintendent Bernabe Balba and Pasay city police chief Senior Superintendent Noel Flores were relieved for command responsibility. The command came from police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde himself, reported Eleazar

Meaning that they were endorsed for the fault of their subordinates they were supposed to lead. This was afterwards when the EPD DEU was suspicious of extorting P60,000 from the family of a detained drug suspect in exchange for freedom. A similar ruse was supposedly done by the Pasay City police station 1 drug enforcement team (SDET), which purportedly requested for money amounting to P100,000.
