Duterte Gets Passing Solon Ratings Failing Over Pandemic Reaction

President Rodrigo Duterte received mixed ratings from lawmakers over the response of his administration to the pandemic of coronavirus disease. Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate said Duterte should get a failed comment about the government’s failure to control the viral disease transmission. Zarate said Duterte could not blame other government offices and officials for treating the pandemic problem as a joke, because the buck stops with him.

The president rating is 99 percent, but it’s just a joke. Especially with what happened in this crisis which we are facing, it was really a major failure. The Government’s response is a major letdown. The legislator pointed out that many government officials would already have been kept responsible for the response to the pandemic by now, but these officials remain in their posts.

Nevertheless, House Minority Leader Bienvenido Abante Jr. said he is making a passing comment on Duterte, saying he is doing his best to respond to the pandemic. However, Abante stated that some heads will rollover their late success in responding to the pandemic inside various government agencies. Nevertheless, Abante refused to name which government officials he thinks should be relieved of their posts.

Yet Abante named the Department of Health (DOH) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ( LTFRB) when asked which of the government agencies he felt had deficiencies in responding to the pandemic.
