Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said Monday that there is no ban on deployment or forced relocation of Filipinos working in Hong Kong in the midst of ongoing violence between protesters and state security forces.
Bello assured that the authorities are monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis.
Bello said that if the situation worsens, the DOLE would allow the OFWs in Hong Kong to operate on land in Macau and China.
On Sunday, the Hong Kong police and protesters clashed at the anti-government march.
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong advised Filipinos to stay away from the demonstration areas in the coming days, such as Yuen Long MTR Station, Kwun Tong Promenade and Prince Edward Victoria Park to Lan Kwai Fong.
