Comelec: 14M ballots still to be printed


Over 14 million more elections ballots are waiting in line to be printed with just over a month before the May 13 national and local polls, conferred by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

James Jimenez, the Comelec spokesman alleged there are 14,093,384 out of the 63,662,481 total ballots that are yet to be reproduced by the National Printing Office (NPO).

“As of March 28, we are 77.86 percent completed or 49,569,097 ballots printed already,” stated Jimenez.

He added two additional regions which includes the National Capital Region, have yet to be printed out soon

Back in the 9th of February when the printing of official ballots commenced at the NPO.

The Comelec has stated it now supposes ballot printing to be accomplished before the Holy Week begins on April 14.

Jimenez added the placement of official ballots will begin immediately after the completion of printing.

“Shipping will be by the second week of April for far flung areas,” concluded Jimenez.
