Architect dies in fall after mistaking unmarked elevator shaft for comfort room

An architect fell to his death in an unmarked elevator shaft on Saturday night. The identified victim, Michael Alfonso, 37 years of age thought an unmarked door inside a building at the Araneta Center, Cubao was a restroom which ultimately lead to his death.

Police reports of the Quezon City Police District identified the victim fell from the third floor to the basement of the Cyberpark Tower 1.

Eyewitness and friend of the victim, Gerald Mondia told police that they both just left a gym inside the building and looked for a restroom at about 9 p.m.

Mondia told that Alfonso quickly opened a door that had no signage posted or warning in sight. Upon opening the door, Alfonso was greeted with a shaft fell head on to the basement.

The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital, World Citi Medical Center but was pronounced dead on arrival around 11:50 PM.
