A package containing assumed cocaine or ‘coke’ was found floating by the saltwater of Baras, Catanduanes, said police.
Witness John Anthony Tabinas, a fisherman handed over a brown and black package containing white crystalline granules to Baras Municipal Police at about 2 p.m. on Thursday.
He recalled he was fishing at around 11 a.m. when he discovered the item floating above the waters.
The item was handed over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) crime laboratory for further examination.
Authorities claim they have already recovered 111 kilos of cocaine found all over the eastern shores of the Philippines.
President Duterte previously claimed that packs of cocaine may have come from drug cartels, especially Colombia. The PNP also said retrieved coke blocks have little to no intended use for distribution in the country due to low market among drug users.
Authorities continue their coordination with their foreign agencies to look for the source of the recovered coke blocks.
