Abu Sayyaf member arrested in Taguig

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives detained a suspected member of the terrorist Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) at a Moslem community in Taguig City.

NBI Diretor Dante Gierran stated on Monday that the suspect identified as Salahim Dawani AKA. Abu Moadz was arrested thru an arrest warrant dispensed by the Regional Trial Court of Basilan for numerous counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

Arrest was issued linking with the kidnapping of quite a few workers at the Golden Harvest Plantation in Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan made by the group back in 2001.

NBI stated at least two witnesses positively recognized Dawani as among the Abu Sayyaf who kidnapped them and incinerated the plantation chapel and the dwellings of the plantation manager.

Witnesses reported the suspect was also among those who beheaded plantation workers Primitivo Falcasantos and Crisanto Suela and assisted in guarding of the rest of the seized workers.
