On Wednesday morning, September 25, a ship carrying the Boracay Dragon Boat Team capsized in waters off Boracay Island, leaving 7 dead.
In a study, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said 21 Boracay Dragon Boat Team members were on board the boat. The PCG team was bringing the 14 survivors to therapy at Saint Gabriel Hospital.
Captain Armand Balilo, the PCG spokesman, said in a declaration that heavy waves caused the ship of the team to chip. The event took place on Wednesday at 7:40 am in the waters off Sitio Lingganay in Barangay Manoc-Manoc.
Investigation revealed that the said dragon boat team had their practice when they were suddenly struck by powerful waves that led [ their boat ] to capsize, Balilo said.
He said the victims ‘ names–3 females and 4 males –would be withheld for 24 hours or until the incident had been reported to their next kin. Balilo said seven survivors, including a Chinese and a Russian, are females, while the other seven are males.
