Magnitude-5.50 quake shook Sarangani Province in Mindanao Friday morning, a day after a strong quake left five people dead and destroyed buildings in Cotabato Province and Davao City.
In its advisory, PHIVOLCS said the quake occurred at 10:33 a.m. It had a range of 33 kilometers. It was of tectonic origin.
Rommel Grutas, Senior Science Research Specialist at PHIVOLCS, said the earthquake was located 334 kilometers southeast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
Later in a television interview, the head of PHIVOLS, Renator Solidum, ruled out any tsunamis due to the earthquake.
